History of Southlink
Southlink Church was planted in 2004 by Founding Pastor, Mark Davenport, with
the support of the Free Methodist Denomination of North America to establish a
non-denominational community that would carry the message of Jesus to the
South Denver regional area. Southlink held its first public service in the Marriott
Hotel ballroom in Lone Tree, on Easter Sunday, 2004 and quickly developed a
reputation for reaching people who were far from God.
In the fall of 2006, the founding pastor left Southlink to assume a church
leadership position in another part of the country. An amazing group of leaders
rallied to hold the church together and carry on the mission, leading its 200
attendees to relocate from the hotel ballroom to a more permanent location.
After spending several weeks renovating a section of the vacant Albertson’s
grocery store in Centennial, Southlink held it’s first public service there on January
7, 2007.
The leadership team of Southlink also took the responsibility of securing the next
Lead Pastor for the church. Through a series of meetings and connections, Scotty
Priest accepted the invitation to become the Lead Pastor of Southlink in January
2007.
Since that time, Southlink has grown tremendously under Scotty’s leadership. The
church added several new staff members and expanded to three weekend
services in March 2008 in order to lead this growing community of over 500 in
weekly attendance.
